“Oxford Comma” by Vampire Weekend
You know that moment when someone who just so happens to be your internship supervisor breaks the news to you that the general rule in writing copy at said internship is to avoid the Oxford comma, despite how absolutely adamant you are about its usage and despite the fact that your last internship required you to copyedit all content and in doing such ensure that there are Oxford commas in all articles, reviews, interviews, and anything else that is to be published? No? Well, it’s not pretty. I neurotically care about Oxford commas and I will not apologize for being an unabashed user of said punctuation, so take that, AP Stylebook.
All of the above.
It’s a lot like when someone tells you not to use a semicolon because they assume you can’t use it correctly. Teachers and such have gotten in this habit of telling students/people that things are wrong because they are rarely useful. The oxford comma, as the semicolon, is rarely useful, but very useful when used correctly.
